Examples of Decomposition
in Advertising
Now let’s see how advertising decomposition works in specific examples: an English school, logistics, a travel agency, and your own advertising services.
4 situations — one professional logic
An English school wants 75 clients per month
Business goal: 75 new clients per month. Suppose the conversion from lead to client is 25%. This means that one out of four leads becomes a client.
clients
leads
clicks
1,500 clicks × $0.35 = $525
Total: with these numbers, to get 75 clients for an English school, the estimated advertising budget is $525. This is not a guarantee. This is a plan. After launch, we compare plan and fact.
Logistics wants 150 clients per month
Business goal: 150 clients per month. Suppose the conversion from lead to client is 10%. This means that one out of 10 inquiries becomes a client.
clients
leads
clicks
budget
10,000 clicks × $0.30 = $3,000. With these inputs, to get 150 clients in logistics, the estimated advertising budget is $3,000.
A travel agency wants 180 clients per month
Business goal: 180 clients per month. Suppose the conversion from lead to client is 5%. In tourism, this can be realistic because people often compare, take time to choose, ask questions, and look at different offers.
clients
leads
clicks
36,000 clicks × $0.20 = $7,200
Total: with these numbers, to get 180 clients for a travel agency, the advertising budget would be around $7,200.
Why it is important to calculate
This immediately shows why calculation matters. If a client wants a large volume of sales but is ready to allocate a small budget, the specialist must be able to calmly explain the numbers.
“This is impossible.”
“With the current inputs, we need approximately this many clicks, this many leads, and this budget.”
If the budget is smaller, we either need to lower the goal, improve conversion, find cheaper traffic, or improve the offer and lead handling.
You as a specialist want 10 clients per month
Now let’s apply decomposition to yourself. Suppose you want to get 10 clients per month for your advertising services. The conversion from inquiry to client is 15%.
clients
inquiries
clicks
budget
To test client acquisition for your own services, you can set a plan: get around 660 clicks, around 66 inquiries, and reach 10 clients with a budget of approximately $231.
Will it work exactly like this in reality? Not necessarily. But you now have a system. You stop thinking: “Where do I get clients?” and start thinking: “What is my goal, what is my offer, what page do I need, what conversion can I expect, how many clicks do I need, and what budget am I ready to test?”
Decomposition turns desire into numbers, numbers into a plan, and a plan into a professional conversation with the client.
